Getting lost in the “Sea of Colors” or Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You

Choosing one hue? How can I? I am all about using all the colors to express myself. Well at least I definetely was in a lot of my earlier art pieces I often felt a strong need to use all the colors that I could possible find.  I felt like the more colors I put into an art work the more it would become alive and catch the viewer’s eyes. That it is how I felt while working on this piece created with charcoal and soft pastels on 24 x 36 inches drawing paper.

It started as a class assignment for Life Drawing class at Wayne State University.  The assignment was to do a self portrait, which is one of my least favorite things to do. As I was getting closer to the deadline I decided to take a leap and go for it. Instead of just drawing what was in front of me I wanted to create a new version of myself. The lines started to take their own shapes and capturing reality was no longer necessary.

And I wanted to fill the drawing with sea of colors to represent the different feelings and moods we experience.
