This is a photo and a sketch of Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. It is one of my favorite places in the world. I recently had a chance to see it again during my trip in San Francisco. And even better I had some time to sketch it. There just wasn’t enough time to capture all the details. In the beginning I felt intimidated by the many sculptures surrounds the columns. After getting over that fear, I realized I would be much more successful in creating a more simplified version of the structure. And I also took many photos from different views, so I can later do a more detailed painting of it someday. Sketch was done with ink pen on paper. And I also added some color to it in Photoshop. I also like the idea of taking a photo of the sketch together with Palace of Fine Arts in the background. Its a great way to mark the moment in time and place.
